In our society, search and selection of marriage partners for boys and girls had been by the parents or the head of the family. Although selection today is done jointly by the family the search operations are still handled by the parents. There is nothing wrong if the parents help their children in finding suitable matches for them but the problem lies in their irrational thinking and parameters upon which they try to select the matches. Even the highly educated parents don’t try to analyze the authenticity and relevance even the harmful effects of their criterion of selection of match.
Logical answers to these and other such questions are what is called Pre-marital Counselling. Pre-marital Counselling is nothing else but the preparation for marriage which comprises an understanding of life, self, family, society, nature and their interrelatedness. The reason behind most of our day to day problems is only the LACK OF LIFE EDUCATION which our education system does not provide. Unlike other counsellors, we don’t provide only tips to handle various situations rather educate and make one understand oneself, one’s relation with one’s family, society and nature and their interdependence as well as universal traits, role and responsibilities, privileges and limitations of a human being.
